Omitron is seeking a highly qualified candidate to provide spacecraft systems engineering expertise in support of NASA's Flight Dynamics Facility (FDF). This facility provides operational flight dynamics support to 35+ satellites in various orbit regimes, evaluates ground- and space-based tracking data, identifies and troubleshoots spacecraft and ground station anomalies, certifies tracking stations, provides launch and early orbit support, and performs a variety of navigation-related analyses. Spacecraft supported include the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO), Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS) mission, Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System (TDRSS), Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), and James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), among many others. As a Senior Systems Engineer, the successful candidate will participate as part of the contractor team to maintain top quality operations performance while developing leading edge systems for future NASA missions.
Reports to:Project Manager, FDF Operations
Specific areas of support will include:
Leading development efforts for new mission operations support
Tracking and maintaining mission requirements
Assisting with performance, evaluation, and enhancement of daily spacecraft operations
Preparing for launch and early orbit navigation support
Overseeing navigation-related analyses, ensuring introduction of new technologies and/or techniques to the FDF and realization of mission requirements
Overseeing and assisting with documentation and communication of analysis work via technical conference papers, journal publications, as well as informal forums with the navigation team and associated customers
Evaluating current FDF operations processes to identify possible improvements and promote advancements and enhancements
Providing senior-level leadership and guidance to junior technical staff
Some travel may be required. Occasional off-hours support will be required.

Required Skills:
Experience in space systems engineering
Understanding of spacecraft navigation and orbital mechanics concepts
Experience designing and leading comprehensive analyses
Ability to apply problem solving methodologies to complex and ambiguous problems
Experience with technical project management
Must have excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience in flight dynamics and/or spacecraft operations
Knowledge of spacecraft communications and ground systems architecture
Experience with ground system development
Experience leading Agile development projects
Experience developing tools in Python, Perl, and/or Matlab
Experience with large scale data analytics and application/development of new algorithms or processes for evaluation
Familiarization with NASA tracking networks such as the Near Space Network and Deep Space Network
Experience with Windows and Linux environments
Required Experience:10+ years of professional experience. Master's degree counts as 2 years professional experience.
Required Degree:Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related discipline. Master's degree desired.
