Our partner is seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist in Phoenix, AZ, to act as a subject matter expert on multi-state payroll tax laws for clients. The role involves researching issue resolutions, enhancing operational processes, and collaborating with the Director of F&A to support accounting and tax processes.
Responsibilities:
Serve as the subject matter expert on systems driving financial transactions, with a focus on payroll tax and tax compliance
Communicate with state and federal agencies to determine the proper treatment of refunds, recording and applying them in the Payroll Processing System
Reconcile and validate data, contribute to consolidation and reporting activities
Participate in monthly and quarterly close tasks
Stay abreast of legislation and regulatory rulings affecting payroll, ensuring adherence, and advising management on required actions
Assist in various Finance Dept. duties, including A/P, registrations, data entry, and other tax matters
Requirements
Strong accounting skills and experience
Comprehensive understanding of accounting controls
Knowledge of multi-state laws for auditing payrolls for compliance
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multitasking, hands-on environment
Inquisitive, critical thinker with robust data analysis and interpretation skills
Detail and process improvement-oriented
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, AND/OR 2-3 years related accounting, payroll tax work experience preferred
