Under the direction of the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, performs a variety of skilled electrical and electrical maintenance tasks; inspects, repairs, installs, modifies, and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment; performs related work as required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES.
Education. High school diploma or GED
Experience. Four (4) years full-time experience in the field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County Policy.
Licenses/Certifications. Must have a valid Class D driver’s license if maintaining multiple locations. Must possess the State of New Mexico Journeyman Electrician License. Periodic safety training will be available to meet OSHA requirements and Doña Ana County policies.
Other (e.g., post-offer medical exam, polygraph, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Background check and driver’s license record; Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
Must have knowledge of electrical principles, theory and construction techniques; electronic theory and applications; National Electrical Code; high and low voltage systems, electric power plants and electric motors; the knowledge to install, trouble shoot, repair, and operate electronic equipment and related circuitry; the various equipment, tools, materials, methods and techniques of the trade; occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade; and understand the proper and safe use of a variety of electrical supplies, tools, equipment, and machines.
Must have the skills to design and construct complex electrical control assemblies; read and interpret blueprints and electrical control diagrams; work from sketches; follow oral and written instructions; operate various types of electrical equipment; make simple time and material estimates; maintain logs and records; and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with others.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate in oral and/or written form; follow written instructions and work independently; manage multiple tasks; read and interpret blueprints and electrical control diagrams, and operates various types of electrical equipment.
