This position has the primary responsibility of carrying out roofing related testing and research activities. The position involves preparing roofing test samples, carrying out standard test procedures and running experimental tests in a lab environment, and/or preparing roofing prototypes, roof deck constructions. The Technician is expected to follow GAF safety procedures, perform specific tasks instructed by scientists and senior technicians, perform simple calculations and enter test data into a database and articulate observations. The technician is expected to maintain a high level of professional, safety and housekeeping standards by participating in company and department EHS programs.
Desired Skills and Experience
Minimum high school diploma and an associate degree in a technical field is highly preferred. A Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering or material science is a plus. • Good communication skills • Ability to set-up and analyze experimental designs is a plus • Basic computer skills and proficiency with MS Word and Excel or Google Sheets and Docs • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes in project direction • Hands-on person with strong sense of work ethic and self-motivation • Strong organization skills
