LHH is seeking a Senior Accountant for a client in Emeryville. You will play a key role in the monthly, quarterly, and year-end General Ledger closing and financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid finance/accounting background, in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, strong analytical, detail-oriented, and problem-solving skills, and ideally a good understanding of retail business. Exceptional organizational skills are a must to meet tight deadlines of this role.
Responsibilities Include: List the specific tasks and responsibilities of this role
Research and resolve daily independent operator inquiries regarding billing, adjustment requests and general inquiries timely.
Contributes to the execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes including completing reconciliations, preparation of journal entries, escalation, resolution of issues, and meeting all set deadlines
Perform variance analysis for assigned areas of responsibility to ensure variances are adequately explained
Provide analysis for Accounting management to determine financial liabilities and prepare appropriate accruals
Prepare and maintain schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements in conjunction with quarter review and year-end audit processes
Understand the daily activities of the department and aid in executing the period end close process to ensure daily and period goals and deadlines are met
Performs ad hoc analysis and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures as required in accordance with US GAAP and established company policy
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance is required
5+ years of combined experience with Big 4 Public Accounting (preferred) and industry
Strong knowledge of current US GAAP
Strong MS Office/Excel skills and experience with an ERP system required (i.e. Oracle, SAP)
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills

Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $105,000 Annually
