Job Description
The administrative assistant performs diverse administrative duties including providing support to doctors and other healthcare providers, and assisting patients in accessing care. An effective administrative assistant enables healthcare providers and patients to interact with each other efficiently and professionally. This position is the liaison between patients and their providers. Exposure to sensitive information requires the use of compassion, discrimination, judgement, and professionalism. A successful candidate will need initiative, a good capacity for time management, and excellent interpersonal skills. Proficiency in clerical, computer, and secretarial applications is required.

Key Responsibilities
Maintain healthcare-providers calendars by scheduling patient appointments
Process requests for prescriptions via telephone or fax
Receive messages from patients on behalf of healthcare providers and communicate them to the appropriate party
Retrieve and refile patient files needed for each day
Complete forms necessary for processing patient prescriptions
Order and procure office supplies
Process patient payments
Maintain up-to-date patient payment information
Prepare weekly summary of schedule for billing purposes
Prepare letters and other written communication for patients
Interact with vendors to coordinate time with healthcare providers
Handle highly confidential, sensitive, and, and critical tasks
Education and Qualifications
Bachelors degree
A minimum of 2 years experience as an administrative assistant in a business environment, or 1 year experience as an administrative assistant in a healthcare setting
Familiarity with basic computer software including Microsoft Word and Quickbooks
Eligible to work in the U.S. without relying solely on a student visa or as visa sponsored third-party employer
