The Horsburgh & Scott Company has over 135 years of experience designing, manufacturing and maintaining gearboxes in heavy-duty applications around the world. We have proven design standards for gearboxes up to 5000 HP and 4 million ft-lbs. with speeds from 0.5 to 3600 rpm. As a Gearbox Technician you will perform assembly and disassembly, set-up, and testing of industrial gear boxes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assembly of new and repaired gearboxes.
Disassemble geared products when necessary.
Accurately measure gears, shafts, housing bores for proper clearances with calibrated measuring tools.
Read assembly drawings.
Assemble shafts, gears, bearings, and lubrication systems.
Properly set-up gearboxes to ensure they meet specifications, tolerances, and other customer requirements.
Perform light welding.
Operate forklift and crane.
Conduct safe rigging of materials.
Replace dull cutting tools.
Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
Produce large quantities of parts.
Determine how automated equipment will cut apart.
Determine the cutting path.
Concert path, speed, and feed information into sets of instructions for a machine tool
Use manual and computer-controlled machinery.
Write basic programs.
Modify programs in response to problems.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Possess strong mechanical aptitude.
Prior experience in the repair of industrial equipment such as gearboxes, motors, pumps highly preferred.
Basic machining knowledge & use of inspection equipment (preferred)
Welding
Experience using a tow-motor, CDL is a plus.
Should be highly motivated, self-starter, reliable, trustworthy.
Good verbal and listening communication skills.
Able to pass OSHA training.
Basic math skills.
Able to read blueprints and the ability to troubleshoot problems with critical & analytical thinking.
