Watson is looking for an experienced senior editor who can join our growing creative team. Applicants must show a strong sense of short and long form video editing, sound mixing, and animation in addition to showing a wide range of creative styles, have an understanding of up to date video trends and possess a marketing mindset.
This person will focus on creating, but not limited to, social video content, broadcast spots, trailers, and help develop concepts and work collaboratively with designers, animators, and other members of the team. The ideal candidate will have a great eye for design, passion for visual storytelling, has the ability to learn and mentor, and has great communication skills as well as a deep love of the craft.
Reporting to the ECD and Director of Video, this person will join our team of editors and creatives.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience at an agency or studio.
Proven track record of producing high-quality video content
Ability to work effectively with a team and independently
Strong communication and organizational skills
Proficient in Adobe Premiere
Knowledge of After Effects and Photoshop
Ability to work on multiple projects at once in a quick-paced environment
Prior experience helping manage a team
Comfortable giving and receiving constructive feedback
Confident working on the day-to-day aspects of a job while ensuring future tasks are managed
An artful understanding of quality video assets and concepts
Ability to cut videos based on written ideas or scripts
Excellent sense of storytelling, timing, and motion
Expert shot selection and composition understanding
Positive attitude and outstanding creative approach to problem solving
Due to the collaborative and senior nature of this role, the right candidate will need to be based in Los Angeles or open to relocating.
Responsibilities
Create content across a number of projects for clients such as A24, FX, and Amazon
Edit short-form social content (0:05 - 0:45), to broadcast spots, to trailers, and the varying aspects that come with it: sound design, color correction, variation options, and minimal animation as needed.
Mentor members of the team
Find strong scenes for clip pulls and know where to begin and end clips for optimal reference and shareability
Work collaboratively with animators, designers, strategists, and other members of the team
Reformat videos to varying sizes
Ensure projects comply with client feedback
Have your finger on the pulse of video trends with knowledge of how to apply them
Ensure each brand aesthetic is successfully translated into high quality visual assets
Be involved in all phases of development from conceptualization and brainstorming to storyboarding and editing
