1/ST EXPERIENCE focuses on guest experience, venue management, venue operations and asset development to elevate the customer experience at and beyond 1/ST's Thoroughbred racetrack venues in California, Florida and Maryland while supporting the company's 1/ST RACING, 1/ST CONTENT, 1/ST TECHNOLOGY and 1/ST PROPERTIES businesses. 1/ST EXPERIENCE creates year-round, vibrant entertainment experiences for 1/ST venues and signature platforms including, the Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park in South Florida, the legendary Preakness Stakes in Baltimore, Maryland, and the newly-formed California Crown at Santa Anita in Southern California.

What are we looking for?
  • We seek a Director of Production to support several of the 1/ST marquee events. The Director of Production will be responsible for supporting the planning and production of live events in conjunction with our marquee horse racing events. This position plays a key role from production brief to implementation, planning, execution, and budgetary responsibility for each program.
  • The perfect candidate must have excellent communications and organizational skills and be solutions oriented. They should pride themselves on being excellent in budget management, time management, multi-tasking, problem-solving, and leadership. Responsibilities include managing, monitoring, and maintaining the project scope, task timeline, operating budget, required staff/resources, coordination with the executive management team, and overall quality of the resulting deliverables.

What you bring to the table:
  • Knowledge of design in AutoCAD and Vectorworks
  • Knowledge of construction, temporary and permanent structures,
  • Must have 5-10 years of relevant work experience with an event management company with Event Production expertise, including Stage, Sound, Lighting, Video Production, Power integration, OSHA standard, Freight Logistics, Production schedule creation and management, scenic/design integration, and the coordination of multiple trades to achieve the end goal.
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to communicate at an executive level with touring artists, management, talent production with a focus on complete technical advances per artist riders.
  • Touring / road experience a plus.
  • Passion for new technology, entertainment, and live events.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication, project management, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience creating and managing budget.
  • Strong negotiating skills with the ability to shop and compare production vendors to determine the best services at the best cost for our events.
  • Attention to detail & and ability to multi-task
  • Microsoft Office/Google Suite proficient
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure with tight deadlines and adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Willing and able to work nonstandard work hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • A self-starter, highly organized, knowledge-hungry, and able to work well with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Must be a creative, forward-thinker, and open to changes on the fly.
  • Must have a professional appearance and persona.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Willing to travel.
  • Ability to conduct site surveys and create actionable plans based on the information gathered.
