Position Overview - "Plant Director"

Though the title is a plant manager, this role has the level of responsibility as "Director or VP" in most manufacturing organizations. At their campus in Cicero, Illinois, you will play a pivotal role in leading their manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.

Reporting to the Director of Operations you will own a full $200M+ P/L at a site employing 400-personnel, overseeing all aspects of plant operations, driving continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of safety and excellence.

Responsibilities:
  • Operational Excellence: Develop and implement strategies to optimize plant operations, increase efficiency, and reduce costs. Continuously improve processes to enhance productivity and output.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold safety standards and compliance protocols. Promote a safety-centric culture by implementing and reinforcing safety procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Work closely with quality control teams to maintain and enhance product quality. Implement quality assurance initiatives and ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Process Optimization: Identify areas for improvement in operational processes and implement solutions to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate operational teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Inventory Management: Collaborate with relevant departments to manage inventory levels effectively, minimizing waste, and ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with various departments, including production, logistics, and maintenance, to ensure cohesive operations and meet production goals.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Analyze operational data and metrics to provide insights, contributing to informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Training and Development: Implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of operational teams. Contribute to the professional development of team members.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum experience required: 200-person plant ownership / $100M P/L ownership.
  • Proven experience in operational management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of operational processes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
