Job description
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our executive team at SDVerse. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operational management, with a distinct hands-on approach to drive business success. This executive role requires a multifaceted candidate that is willing to engage in all aspects of the company's supporting business functions. In addition, the candidate will be tasked with developing and implementing a risk management framework to identify and mitigate company risks. As a key member of the senior management team, the COO will lead the operational functions to align project execution with our company's strategic vision.
Key responsibilities
Finance:
Develop and implement financial systems, policies and procedures, including tax preparations, audit coordination, accounts receivable & payables, reporting, and treasury functions through the management of internal professional(s) or external service provider(s)
Supervise financial planning and analysis (FP&A), providing insights and analyses to support decision-making across the business
HR:
Develop and implement HR systems, policies and procedures to support company's culture and objectives through the management of internal professional(s) or external service provider(s)
Oversee payroll and benefits administration, ensuring accurate and timely processing, compliance with regulations, and alignment with market standards
Establish recruiting processes to identify, attract, and onboard top talent
Develop and implement performance review processes across roles and departments
IT:
Develop and maintain all internal IT hardware and software infrastructure through the management of internal professional(s) or external service provider(s)
Legal:
Oversee and manage the company's legal affairs, including contracts, partnership agreements, and compliance issues through the management of an internal professional(s) or external service provider(s)
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, employment and data security regulations
Other responsibilities:
Lead the Project Management Office, overseeing project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure strategic objectives are met on time and within budget
Act as a strategic advisor to the CEO, assisting in decision-making processes, strategic planning, and the execution of key initiatives
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk framework and policies to identify and mitigate internal (infrastructure, compliance, fraud, etc.) and external (regulatory, security, etc.) risks throughout all business functions
Assume a range of responsibilities that fall outside the direct scope of the CEO, CRO, and CTO
Credentials, competencies & skills
Required qualifications:
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a willingness to engage in all aspects of the job
Strong planning and organizational skills, with a hands-on approach to achieving goals
Experience preparing and managing a budget
Working knowledge of U.S. labor laws and HR functions
Working knowledge of corporate IT systems to support organizational functions
Working knowledge of relevant legal and compliance requirements
Ability to engage with personnel at all levels of employment
Ability to delegate tasks effectively
Preferred qualifications:
Bachelors or Master's degree in relevant discipline or MBA
Experience in the automotive industry preferred
10+ years experience across operations, strategy, or consulting
Location: Primary responsibilities in Detroit with flexible options available
