Job Description:

Our client is in search of an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer for a full-time direct hire opportunity. This client is located in Agawam, MA and this position is 100% onsite.

SUMMARY

The role of the Quality Assurance Engineer is to drive a culture of quality with team members in the Quality department across all areas within the company. They are responsible for maintaining the Quality program to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products by performing the duties identified below. The Quality Assurance Engineer is a detail oriented, organized, dependable team player within GAC. The engineer demonstrates proficiency in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures as well as relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned as required.

  • Supplier Quality Assurance: Responsible for maintaining an ongoing program with GAC suppliers which will address all aspects of quality.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and the Purchasing team.
  • Update supplier database with updated records frequently.

  • Yearly Assessment
  • Performing logistics tasks, such as communicating with suppliers when parts don't meet quality standards or requirements.
  • Submit requests for corrective action as well as obtain and assess supplier responses.
  • Assess supplier first piece samples.
  • Visiting supplier facilities to ensure they uphold quality standards.
  • Assurance / Compliance: Ensure compliance to all company and applicable customer standards.
  • Applies the competency in new or complex situations and advises others.
  • Participate in Certification Audits - ISO9001; AS9100; Type Approval
  • Product / Organization Compliance
  • Assist in audits, training, and improvements anywhere needed including product, process and system audits
  • Assist in maintenance and improvements to quality system to meet company and customer goals.
  • Calibration: Assist with the operation of the calibration system.
  • Assign and control issuance of calibration, inspection and test equipment.
  • Assist in controlling maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in recalling and calibrating equipment.
  • Write calibration procedures.
  • Provide training and supervision relating to the proper use of calibration equipment.
  • Inspection:
  • Performs inspections and sets inspection specifications of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products.
  • Assists in developing quality control policies and evaluates product limitations.
  • Production: Support all Production areas.
  • Work to assist with any product / process related issues to improve process quality. Communicate with other departments to facilitate results.
  • Provide statistical information for quality improvement by identifying testing methods and sample plans.
  • Monitor processes by implementing and supporting statistical process controls.
  • Aid in troubleshooting defective products.
  • Promote the use of industry preferred techniques for continuous improvement of products and processes. For example, Six-Sigma and Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing).
  • Aid in Scrap Reduction efforts.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • BS in Engineering. 4 -7 years of related work experience preferred.
  • Should have knowledge of electronic / electro-mechanical testing and assembly processes including electronic assembly automation and solder methods.
  • ISO9001 and AS9100 (or equivalent) experience required.
  • Proficient in applicable analytical software and Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
  • Additional software application knowledge, such as statistical analysis tools, a plus.

Pay Range: 70,000-85,000

The specific compensation for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role as well as the cost of labor in the market; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment.
