Job Description:

Duties

Responsible for the overall safety of all employees and visitors while they are on company property.
  • Oversee the plant safety program and ensure its effectiveness.
  • Review safety meeting minutes and address safety hazards immediately.
  • Designate or act as a safety director whose responsibility is the continuous monitoring of the safety program and the coordination of safety awareness and training.
  • Review suggestion box regularly.
  • Maintain sufficient safety records in accordance with OSHA.

Responsible for continuing/implementing strong company culture in the facility.
  • Employees are the first priority, production is secondary.
  • Coach and instruct supervisors are the proper methods of caring for their employees demonstrating the methods by example.
  • Hold pre-shift meetings to explain the day's needs and concerns and emphasize the importance of safety, not only for the individual but for everyone in the plant.
  • Manage by walking around during the shift initiating conversations with questions regarding the well-being of the employee.
  • Catch someone doing something well and praise. Recognize their efforts.
  • Understand that all employees are people and all of us have challenges. Search for the reason behind the issue, actively listen and resolve to the benefit of all.

Responsible for leading and supporting employee engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct focused walks semi-weekly through the plant to engage with the employees.
  • Utilizing active listening skills, ask probing questions that encourage employee input on issues or opportunities related to safety, quality, performance, goals, scheduling, teamwork, etc.,
  • Note opportunities for improvement and potential solutions based on employee input.
  • Develop strategies for employee led teams to implement or 'try'.
  • Provide ongoing feedback to employee led teams and support efforts that lead to improved results, even during times of initial failure.
  • Celebrate wins and recognize employees participating on successful teams.

Make provisions to ensure food safety, food defense, and quality practices are adopted and maintained in the facility in compliance with federal, state, and local government regulatory food safety requirements and Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) or British Retail Consortium (BRC) standards.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining "showroom condition" housekeeping standards in and around the facility at all times.
  • Ensure that adequate resources and budget are available to achieve food safety, food defense, and quality objectives.
  • Drive a culture which supports the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of food safety, food defense, and quality systems; ensure the entire management team drives these programs.

Responsible for establishing an effective quality program that ensures all products meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Promote and utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) as a means for quality awareness and improvement.
  • Respond to all customer complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Utilize the complaint system to document and notify.
  • Utilize appropriate problem-solving techniques to resolve pending or reoccurring complaints.
  • Provide appropriate customer service by utilizing Customer-Base Improvement Team (CBIT) meetings to improve communication and build a successful customer/supplier partnership.
  • Ensure Commission, Qualification and Verification (CQV) protocol is followed for every new or modified mold, equipment or process change in the plant.

Responsible for the development and training of all employees.
  • Provide or make available the necessary training required for all employees to understand and perform their related jobs.
  • Provide feedback to all employees as it relates to their job performance in the form of regular evaluations.
  • Create an environment that provides an opportunity for employee advancement.
  • Establish aggressive, attainable goals for the employees to reach.

Responsible for the overall appearance, performance, and maintenance of all equipment in the facility.
  • Utilize Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) to maintain equipment standards.
  • Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance program. Coordinate problem solving activities to raise performance.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Manager Software (CMMS) to maintain parts inventory, coordinate and schedule equipment repairs, and track equipment failure trends.
  • Develop and implement innovative ideas to improve equipment appearance, efficiency or performance.
  • Coordinate and/or authorize the use of outside resources to assist in maintaining or repairing the equipment.

Responsible for coordinating the efforts of plant, corporate and outside resources during new equipment installation or major repairs.

Responsible for ensuring customer orders/requirements are met with effective production schedules while maintaining established labor budgets.
  • Drive 'World Class' production output without sacrificing safety, housekeeping, quality and TPM.

Responsible for communicating all information as it relates to the company and/or plant.
  • Communicate plant status or requirements to corporate personnel and executives.
  • Communicate company and plant goals to all employees.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with the appropriate plant personnel to communicate upcoming events, projects, concerns, ideas, and changes as it relates to the plant operation. Document all such meetings.
  • Maintain updated bulletin boards to communicate plant efficiencies, updates, and news.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining a plant budget to maximize plant profitability.
  • Monitor plant financials to detect and implement ways to improve plant profitability.
  • Maintain adequate plant staffing and control labor costs.
  • Coordinate and/or approve purchase orders with corporate and plant purchasing.
  • Review, approve and code all invoices associated with plant purchases.

Responsible for maintaining accurate employee records and documentation.

Experience, Educational and Technical Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in Management or Supervision in a manufacturing environment.
• He/she must have the ability to provide technical guidance through past experience and industry knowledge.
• He/she should possess strong people skills, leadership qualities, managerial abilities, a sense of urgency, accountability, business ethics, professionalism, self-motivation, and the desire and focus to improve the business.
• Our candidate must be able to read, write and understand English.
• In addition to the items listed above, the Plant Manager may be asked to perform all duties and responsibilities of the Production Manager, Maintenance Manager and/or Quality Manager.
• The Plant Manager must be well trained in computer software.
