Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Fremont, CA
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed.
Study production and machine requirements.
Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
Develop and maintain documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Review the design for manufacturability/serviceability and installation equipment.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, design engineering, quality assurance, production, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement efforts.
Participate in new product development projects, providing input on manufacturability and scalability.
Organize and manage manufacturing resources.
Drive initiatives for automation and digitalization of manufacturing processes to improve productivity and reduce cycle times.
Lead and coordinate manufacturing process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling, transport)
Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations, and network performance.
Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum throughput.
Resolve issues and delays in production.
Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, production staff, and contract manufacturers to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.
Upgrade systems and processes with new technology.
Qualifications:
Degree in Engineering required; post-graduate degree is preferred.
5-7 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a similar role.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design
Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials is preferable.
Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and familiarity with data analysis tools.
Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
Experience working in a cleanroom environment and familiarity with cleanroom protocols and safety standards.
Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
Project management skills
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Teamwork skills
Ability to work late shifts occasionally.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally occasionally for vendor, CMs visits, and customer support.
Compensation
The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 per year; higher compensation may be available depending on advanced skills and/or specific experience.
