Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Fremont, CA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes based on quality criteria, such as efficiency and speed.
  • Study production and machine requirements.
  • Develop and test effective automated and manual systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and process specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Review the design for manufacturability/serviceability and installation equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, design engineering, quality assurance, production, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in new product development projects, providing input on manufacturability and scalability.
  • Organize and manage manufacturing resources.
  • Drive initiatives for automation and digitalization of manufacturing processes to improve productivity and reduce cycle times.
  • Lead and coordinate manufacturing process improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling, transport)
  • Optimize facility layouts, production lines, machine operations, and network performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum throughput.
  • Resolve issues and delays in production.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, production staff, and contract manufacturers to resolve complex manufacturing challenges.
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations.
  • Upgrade systems and processes with new technology.

Qualifications:
  • Degree in Engineering required; post-graduate degree is preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design
  • Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, equipment, and materials is preferable.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and familiarity with data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and coach junior engineers.
  • Experience working in a cleanroom environment and familiarity with cleanroom protocols and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Project management skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Teamwork skills
  • Ability to work late shifts occasionally.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally occasionally for vendor, CMs visits, and customer support.

Compensation
  • The base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $130,000 per year; higher compensation may be available depending on advanced skills and/or specific experience.
