Stella Environmental Services, based in Raleigh, North Carolina market plays a crucial role in the processing and safe disposal of municipal solid waste. The Company provides outsourced transfer station management services, including the loading and transportation of waste from in-town processing facilities to remote landfills, to integrated waste companies and municipalities. Transfer stations are a vital part of the waste collection and disposal process, improving the efficiency of the overall waste stream and reducing capital requirements and operating costs for customers.
Responsibilities:
This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, as necessary including during inclement weather.
Under the direction of the Vice President, the GM directs a Team of Divisional Manages, who are responsible for our Transfer Stations operating to Company guidelines and State Environmental Quality Rules and Regulations and supervises the operators, laborers and all other personnel assigned to the transfer station.
Supervises all Transfer Station operators, independent contractors, laborers and other assigned personnel.
Supervises and ensures that all of the required reports and paperwork are completely and correctly filed out and submitted.
Checks cleanliness of Transfer Station areas.
Reviews and inspects daily operations of the Transfer Station including heavy equipment, transfer trailers, to ensure that operations at the Transfer Station are performed as smoothly and safe as is reasonably possible.
Reviews Maintenance Department's activities at the Transfer Station and Shop. These activities include removal, replacing of hydraulic hoses, remove and replace hydraulic cylinders, perform other maintenance as required.
Investigates and documents accidents and property damage.
Conducts and documents safety instructional meetings with personnel.
Responds to after-hours calls and fills in for other employees as assigned.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
A minimum of two years of solid waste experience and two years supervisory work experience
Must be able to:
Demonstrate the ability to hear and accurately interpret mechanical, technical and business information in an environment subject to noise, vibrations, etc.,
Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment,
Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the Company, and
Specific to a profit and growing business, successfully manage stressful situations and competing demands/deadlines.
