Role Description

Position: Manufacturer (Full-time, On-site)

Location: Carolina Beach, NC

The Manufacturer plays a pivotal role in our operational framework, focusing on the intricacies of producing hemp-based products. This position entails a spectrum of responsibilities, from the hands-on operation of sophisticated machinery to the vigilant monitoring of the production process, ensuring each batch adheres to our high standards of quality control. The successful candidate will be instrumental in achieving production targets, while also being equipped to tackle troubleshooting and equipment maintenance tasks as needed.

Specific Manufacturing Focus:

In this role, the Manufacturer will be primarily engaged in the production and packaging of a select range of cannabis-based products. This position entails hands-on involvement with the following product types:

Lotions and Creams: Crafting a variety of topical products infused with cannabis. This involves mixing, compounding, and quality control to ensure each product meets our standards for consistency and effectiveness.

Gummies: Manufacturing cannabis-infused chewable gels, focusing on precise dosing, flavor, and texture. Attention to detail is crucial to maintain the quality and consistency of our edible products.

Concentrates: Producing high-quality cannabis concentrates through extraction and refinement processes. Knowledge of extraction techniques and safety protocols is essential.

Packaging Flower: Responsibly handling and packaging dried cannabis flower, ensuring the product is presented and preserved in accordance with our quality standards.

Packing Pre-rolled Cones: Preparing pre-rolled cannabis joints with consistency and accuracy. This involves measuring, grinding, and rolling cannabis in a uniform manner.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Operation of Manufacturing Equipment: Handle and oversee machinery specialized for the production of hemp-based products, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Vigilantly monitor production processes to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and relevant safety standards, maintaining the highest quality of products.
  • Production Goals: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to meet and exceed set production targets, contributing to the company's growth and operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Employ problem-solving skills to quickly address and resolve equipment or production issues, minimizing downtime and maintaining continuous production flow.
  • Maintenance: Perform regular and ad-hoc maintenance on machinery to ensure uninterrupted operation, prolong equipment life, and uphold safety standards.

Physical Requirements:
  • Lifting Capacity: Must be able to lift at least 65 pounds to chest level, demonstrating physical strength and endurance.
  • Sustained Lifting: Ability to hold the lifted weight for a minimum of 30 seconds, underscoring the importance of stamina and physical resilience.
  • Prolonged Standing: The nature of the job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, accommodating the manufacturing process's dynamic demands.
  • Manual Dexterity: Skilled in handling small components or tools, adjusting settings, and performing tasks requiring precise movements.

Mental and Cognitive Requirements:
  • Learning and Memorization: Ability to learn, memorize, and accurately execute 35 different product recipes, indicating a strong capacity for information retention and application.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail is critical for following complex manufacturing procedures and ensuring product quality and compliance.
  • Instruction Comprehension: Must be able to follow written instructions meticulously, as provided in batch records, to ensure each product batch meets the specified standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities are essential for troubleshooting production challenges and optimizing processes.

Adaptability: Capacity to adapt to new information, changes in procedures, and adjustments in production targets, reflecting flexibility and resilience.

Jewelry and Piercings Policy: Jewelry and Piercings Must Be Removed While on the Manufacturing Floor. For safety and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), all employees are required to remove any jewelry and piercings before entering the manufacturing area. This policy is non-negotiable and strictly enforced to prevent contamination risks and ensure product integrity. Failure to comply with this policy will result in immediate termination of employment. Understanding and willingness to adhere to this policy are essential for all candidates considering this position.

Mandatory Presence During Batch Production: Under No Circumstances Other Than Family Emergency or Bodily Injury Should an Employee Abandon the Manufacturing Floor While in the Middle of a Batch. The uninterrupted completion of production batches is critical to maintaining product integrity and operational efficiency. Each batch must be seen through to completion, either being bottled or securely stored in a bulk sanitary container with a lid to ensure the product's integrity for processing the following day.

Abandoning the production floor during a batch without a valid, urgent reason is considered a serious breach of operational discipline and is grounds for immediate termination. This policy is in place to underscore the critical nature of each manufacturing step and the role of each employee in upholding product quality and safety standards.

Other Qualifications:
  • Experience in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing or Related Field: Preferably with a focus on the cannabis industry and specific expertise in hemp product manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of GMP and Safety Regulations: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and commitment to adhering to safety standards.
  • Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work effectively within a team and independently, managing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Communication and Organizational Skills: Strong skills in both verbal and written communication, coupled with the ability to organize tasks and documentation efficiently.
  • Technical Degree or Certification (Preferred): A degree or certification in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
