Job Description:
As an Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in the pre-construction phase of commercial interiors projects. You will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs associated with construction projects, ensuring that our bids are competitive while maintaining profitability. Your attention to detail, analytical skills, and industry knowledge will be essential in preparing comprehensive and precise project estimates.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Evaluation: Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to understand the scope of work and project objectives.
Cost Estimation: Utilise cost estimation software and tools to accurately calculate material, labor, and equipment costs for each project component.
Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Solicit and evaluate bids from vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to project requirements.
Budget Analysis: Analyse project budgets and identify areas for cost optimization and value engineering without compromising quality.
Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact project costs and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, timelines, and project schedules, in accordance with client specifications.
Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between project estimates and overall project goals.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project estimates, bid documents, and correspondence for future reference and analysis.
Market Research: Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and material pricing fluctuations to make informed decisions and maintain competitiveness.
Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline estimating processes, enhance accuracy, and improve efficiency through the adoption of new technologies or methodologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial construction estimating, preferably in interiors construction.
Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project requirements and specifications.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and budgeting.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Knowledge of local building regulations and permit processes in Raritan, NJ, is preferred.
Professional certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus.
