We are seeking an experienced Senior Façade Designer/Engineer or Senior Project Manager who aspires to the highest standards of excellence to join our Facade Practice. The successful candidate participates in technical façade design work on a large range of project types and scales to assure that project goals are met, and deliverables are developed in accordance with appropriate codes, within budget and on schedule. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Architecture, Structural Engineering, or Building Systems & Sustainability is strongly preferred.
  • Active professional license (RA, PE) registered in New York or New Jersey or ability to obtain license within 6 months of hire is preferred. Certified Passive House (PH) designer is a plus.
  • 5 to 12 years of demonstrated experience, working on building facades and specialized enclosure designs of technically challenging cultural, commercial, residential, institutional building and/or specialty projects.
  • A keen interest in design and engineering, a positive approach, and the ability to work effectively as part of a diverse and inclusive team in a creative atmosphere.
  • In-depth knowledge of enclosure (thermal, air, waterproofing) design and technical detailing over a range of system types.
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of the latest design codes and agency standards such as IBC, IECC, and ASHRAE.
  • Prior experience performing and overseeing planning, design, filing and bid document preparation, construction-phase administration, etc. in support of project goals and in compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Rhinoceros, and Grasshopper/Dynamo design and production software. Ability to develop and direct building envelope and specialty enclosure drawing sets and models.
  • Experience in building science analytics, energy modeling, COMcheck, and expertise in software LBNL THERM, Window, Radiance, Ladybug, and Honeybee.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design a large array of façade and specialty enclosure types from Schematic Design through Construction Administration.
  • Develop and detail building envelope and specialty enclosure designs for projects ranging in scale, scope, complexity, and materiality.
  • Perform code analysis to ensure compliance with appropriate codes and standards.
  • Produce and oversee the detailing and drafting of 2D details and 3D models in Rhinoceros. Mark up drawings and details for the junior staff.
  • Prepare and oversee the production of building envelope and specialty enclosure drawing sets in AutoCAD and Revit and/or energy models for energy code compliance.
  • Participate and collaborate in project team settings, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate concepts and ideas with clients and reviewing agencies.
  • Solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
  • Take initiative on tasks and coordinate with other members of the design team.
  • Manage multiple projects within specified timeline and budget.
  • Write and edit specifications for building envelope components and scope.
  • Develop junior staff through mentoring and coaching and review work, providing feedback as appropriate.
  • Build and sustain effective relationships with current and potential clients through regular communication.
