Job Overview: Our Director of Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring optimized production, on-time delivery of quality products, and a safe and positive work environment. This is a hands-on position requiring extensive experience leading a manufacturing environment, quick thinking, creative solutions, effective people management and interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with all levels in the organization to align with the overall company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the manufacturing process to ensure consistent adherence to production, performance, and quality standards.
  • Assist in setting and achieving long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and the implementation of new technologies and processes.
  • Identify and facilitate training opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • Work alongside the Inventory Manager to develop and nurture key vendor relationships to ensure product specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Collaborate with the Controller to develop and manage the operating budget with a focus on efficiency.
  • Generate and review production reports to monitor safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals.
  • Coordinate with the Inventory Manager/Purchaser to maintain adequate raw material stock.
  • Maintain an atmosphere that promotes employee engagement and improvement as well as maintain the culture of the company.
  • Hire, train, develop, coach, direct, and evaluate manufacturing staff to create a high functioning, engaged, and productive team.
  • Develop companywide safety initiatives to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Ensure the manufacturing floor layout is optimized for labor and throughput; and is clean, organized, and functional.
  • Collaborate with management team to implement improvement strategies, and work with sales personnel to troubleshoot product issues and assist in providing customer support.
  • Provide strategic input and coordinate production resources for the Research and Development team.
  • Drive a program of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance for production and facility is in line with direction from the Compliance department.
  • Oversee facility and equipment maintenance.
  • Establish procedures, processes, and systems for maintaining high standards of production to ensure products conform to established customer and company quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive high-level experience in Manufacturing.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills creating clarity and understanding.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the continuous improvement process.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience with machining in metal products is desired; experience in a similar manufacturing industry is preferable.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles and ability to enhance and sustain a culture of continuous improvement through team member input.
  • Experience leading, inspiring, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to work with varied personalities in a variety of circumstances and environments.
  • Self-starter who proactively identifies priorities and helps others where needed.
  • Strong organizational and planning capabilities.
  • Exceptional detail and documentation skills with the ability to create complex, multistep written instructions.
  • Experience with new product launches and integration into operations.
  • Knowledge of the budgeting process and experience managing a budget.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and Microsoft Office applications; and experience with CRM, ERP/MRP, and inventory management software programs.
