Primary Function:
• Primary Function: The Value Stream Manager has management responsibility and line of sight ownership focus for major processes within the plants' operations. This includes accountabilities for all products manufactured within their value stream process, all aspects of safety performance, product quality and quantity, personnel management and discipline, training, budgeting, cost control/reduction and continuous improvement utilizing the COS tools. The Value Stream Manager will also be responsible for developing a strong team environment with clear and effective communications. The Value Stream Manager serves as a key interface with a variety of support personnel including Plant Dept. Managers, other Value Stream associates across the company, R&D, Purchasing, Maintenance, Engineering, Technical Services, Scheduling, Sales, Customer Service, HR, and Logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supervision, coaching and development of supervisors and their subordinates
• Quality of products
• Safety of employees, equipment and processes
• Manufacturing Costs and Details
• Continuous Improvement
• Short and Long Term Production Planning

Interactions with Others:

A variety of professional and hourly personnel on a daily basis including supervisors, team leaders and shop floor personnel, as well as engineers, chemists, accountants, sales, etc. Interactions will also include upper management, customers, and suppliers on a more limited basis.

Education & Experience Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or other technical related disciplines is highly desired.

Equivalency:

10-15 years' work experience and a proven track record of increasing responsibility in one or more positions that involves supervision, independent thinking and analysis, decision making, effective communication, etc. Expectation of completing a required bachelor's degree within 6 years.

Experience:

Three to five years in a manufacturing position or one that is closely associated with plant operations is highly desired. Ability to function in a team environment, work well with others, and handle multiple priorities and projects are necessary.

Work Environment/Time Worked:

Work Environment:

Environment is generally an office and manufacturing setting. The work setting can often be hot and dusty in the manufacturing area. The job itself can be stressful at times and can require a fast pace. Priorities change quickly and the person must be able to adapt and prioritize appropriately.

Time Worked:

Hours Worked - Generally core hours of 7:00 am to 5:00 pm can be expected. Coverage will be required across shifts of responsibilities with the expectation that hours are flexed to address value Stream requirements.

Days of Week Worked - Generally Monday through Friday although weekends may be required to assist and lead production requirements when scheduled.

Comments - This position requires the person to be "On Call" due to the nature of the operation. The 24 hour nature of the operation involves situations that need to answered or advised regardless of the time of day.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Organizational Structure - This person directly supervises Value Stream Supervisors with indirect shop floor personnel responsibilities of roughly 150 hourly and temporary employees.
• Tasks - Interview and select employees, set goals and objectives, conduct performance appraisals, train, assign and delegate tasks, coach and lead direct and indirect employees, influence outside support resources, administer disciplinary action including terminations.
