Job Description:

Job Summary: The Purchasing Manager plays a vital role in the efficient functioning of construction projects by overseeing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for successful project completion. Your responsibilities will include sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring timely delivery of materials to meet project deadlines. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements, budget constraints, and company objectives.
  • Identify potential suppliers, evaluate their capabilities, negotiate terms and conditions, and establish contracts to secure the best value for the organization.
  • Source and procure construction materials, equipment, and services in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor and analyze procurement costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to optimize procurement processes while maintaining quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records, track material usage, and anticipate project needs to ensure timely procurement and availability of materials.
  • Review and negotiate contract terms, including pricing, delivery schedules, and warranties, and ensure compliance with contractual obligations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with suppliers, communicate effectively to resolve issues, address concerns, and foster collaboration to meet project requirements.
  • Identify potential risks related to procurement activities, develop mitigation strategies, and implement measures to minimize disruptions to project timelines and budgets.
  • Stay updated on relevant regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to procurement and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to understand project needs, coordinate procurement activities, and communicate effectively to support project objectives.
  • Support and manage the Purchasing Team to ensure quality, efficiency and effectiveness on all department related tasks; training the team on all needed information and procedures.
  • Work with Data Analysts to produce statistics and metrics to create and provide all necessary reporting information.
  • Travel and attend meetings and conferences based off the needs of the business.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in construction procurement or purchasing management, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience with Viewpoint a plus.
