Job Duties:
  • Developing and implementing purchasing strategies that align with the organization's goals and objectives across a defined number of direct material categories.
  • Responsible for managing strategic commodities Stamping, MoMP (metal and machined components), Die Casting purchasing team in North & South America to deliver year-over-year savings with a clear saving road map for each Joyson business unit.
  • Conducting market research to identify potential/new suppliers based on should cost modeling and evaluating supplier performance in collaboration with the relevant cross-functions.
  • Negotiating contracts with suppliers and managing supplier relationships to ensure contractual obligations are met. ?Strong negotiation skills necessary. Familiar with Game Theory concepts, MDO (Most Desired Outcome), BATNA (Best Alternative To Negotiated Agreement), and LAA (Least Acceptable Agreement), etc.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders to execute on cost down initiatives and align purchasing activities accordingly. ?A pro-active approach with cross-functions needed to guide strategic discussions.
  • Monitoring market trends and identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. ?
  • Ensuring compliance, legal and ethical standards in the purchasing process and in accordance with the Joyson standards.
  • Managing the supplier selection, nomination & contract negotiations (productivity & PTs). ?
  • Analyzing purchasing data (e.g. BOM cost comparison) to identify cost savings. ?Alignment with global commodity mangers, advanced purchasing team and cross-regional procurement leaders to drive best price possible in the Americas region.
  • Developing and maintaining a network of industry contacts to stay informed about market trends and best practices. ?
  • Establish a strong stamping supplier base in Mexico. Local suppliers must provide similar price point as global supplier base.
  • Establish strong cost break down structure for all stamping sub-commodities and understand should cost and drive negotiations to achieve should cost with current supplier base.
  • Establish index agreements with suppliers.
  • Create new raw material and productivity agreements with suppliers (MPAs & LTAs).
  • Consolidate supplier base.

Skills:
  • Very strong analytical skills, able to perform under time constraints, and operate in high pressure situations.
  • Strong management and leadership skills, leading by example: Mentor the commodity buyers on LTAs (long term agreements) and APN (annual price negotiations).
  • Ability to mentor/develop direct reports with a focus on career development.
  • Brings a positive attitude, high energy, and strong desire to win.
  • Professional skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Understand stamping sweet spot for each supplier based on machinery footprint.

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of purchasing management experience in stamping parts and team lead.
  • Deep technical understanding of commodity & sub-commodity level to work with engineering & project purchasing on sustainable savings (early involvement) and developing a strong supplier base beyond price comparisons.
