TekPro is partnered with a leading aerospace component manufacturer located in the west suburbs of Chicago in their search for a Director of Quality Assurance! We are currently recruiting for a Director of Quality Assurance.

Reports To: Vice President of Quality

Essential Function

Responsible for ensuring all products or services meet the established standards of the quality system by the use of surveillance techniques, and the reporting of quantitative and qualitative findings. Oversees a team of five Quality Assurance Engineers.

Specific Duties, Activities, and Responsibilities
  • Prioritize and oversee any and all Quality Engineer (QE)/Inspection direct reports priorities and activity.
  • Support the DMR/RMA process where required with the creation, release, and follow up on any NCRs/CAPAs/SCARs.
  • Lead, coordinate and support on-site or off-site audits (IE AS, ISO, NADCAP, Supplier), and any supplier/customer assessments (IE SHA, SCIP) conducted by external providers and or customers. Evaluate any audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Review and release any routers needed for production.
  • Create, revise, interpret, and implement quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and standards.
  • Evaluate and document through audits the adequacy of quality assurance policies, procedures, and standards. Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Collect and compile statistical quality data and prepare reports to communicate outcomes of internal quality assurance and supplier activities. (IE PFMEA, Process Capability Studies, Gage R&R, COPQ, and any Supplier Data)
  • Using Lean tools, analyze data to identify areas for improvement in the quality system and then develop, recommend and either implement or monitor corrective and preventive actions
  • Identify training needs for all QE employees and any company QMS training requirements and organize any training interventions to meet quality standards.
  • Identify, perform, or delegate any required FAIRs/Cutups for customer and internal requirements.
  • Audit to ensure that any specifications (customer or industry) are up to date and available through the DCS.
  • Oversee and upkeep the document management system(DCS).
  • Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred. Experience in a quality driven (AS9100, NADCAP) aerospace manufacturing environment with quality inspection, auditing of quality systems and testing experience required. Knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of QA. Experience with implementation and oversee a corrective action program. Certifications in Quality Auditor, Quality Engineer, Quality Improvement Associate, and Six Sigma are a plus. Strong computer skills including the use Microsoft Office and databases required.
