Basic job description:
Lead PJS insert team
Coordinate all insert receiving, tracking, inventory, and delivery
Ensure safe operation and quality packaging of newspapers products
Job requirements:
Experience in newspaper packaging operations
Mechanical ability and experience working in the packaging environment
Possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to others in a professional manner
Capacity to take on diverse responsibilities
Ability to oversee multiple crews
Forklift operation experience
Willingness to be flexible regarding schedule changes
Able to assist in other operations in the packaging department including but not limited to the following: stack down, inserting operations
Knowledge of:
Insert processes from the time they arrive in the building until they leave the building
SAMs and SAM Tracks
Must have experience and a technical understanding of the packaging department including but not limited to the following:
Stacker/strapper operation
SLS3000 inserter operation
Buffer/unwinder operation
Appropriate safety standards
Production deadlines, ad tracking, commercial products, and scheduling priorities
Company training processes and needs
Skills:
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with departments, customers, and associates
Holistic perspective of the planning, production, and delivery of customer-based products
Must have strong problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting and resolution
Ability to distinguish quality work and have an attention to details
Effective in the direction, supervision, development, and training of staff
Ability to properly motivate co-workers under high pressure situations
