Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

The Team Member we are searching for

The ideal Site Coordinator believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success.

What you will need to accomplish:

Planning and Instruction:


  • Develop and implement the ASES after-school program

  • Coordinate the three program components: academic tutorial, homework, and enrichment recreation

  • Review and assist in developing and maintaining the Tutor’s IATs (lesson plans) and ensure they are submitted to the principal & instructional leader

  • Manage Tutors as they work with the Principal, Instructional Leaders, and content level Teachers to implement teaching methods directed towards meeting and surpassing the standards

  • Develop and utilize assessments and data to help Tutors drive instruction

  • Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment

  • Assist Tutors with organizing classroom systems, procedures, and managing student behavior

  • Ensure all students are in attendance and fully engaged in learning

  • Help create an effective classroom environment conducive to learning and student achievement

  • Collaborate with Resource Specialist and other professionals to meet the diverse needs of all students

  • Utilize and execute school-wide and content-specific common practices

  • Create and implement enrichment activities (i.e. athletics, arts)

Culture:


  • Communicate effectively and appropriately with all stakeholders (parents, students, staff, community)

  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and school staff

Professional Educator and Leadership:


  • Attend professional development training and apply learning to curriculum and instruction as requested by Principal and Instructional leader

  • Reflect on teaching practice, assess professional progress, and identify developmental opportunities for professional growth

Student Achievement:


  • Demonstrate student achievement growth and or provide evidence of student learning

Operations: Time Management, SIS, and Attendance:


  • Set and communicate to all stakeholders academic and behavioral expectations

  • Demonstrate a capacity for time management in regard to preparation for class and personal time off

  • Manage time appropriately when tracking students' grades, attendance, etc.

  • Attend and participate in school-based meetings and activities

  • Adhere to scheduling and program design elements

  • Adhere to safety policies to ensure a safe and organized program for all students

Misc:


  • Work with Administrators, Tutors, and Teachers as duties are assigned

  • Maintain a professional attitude and relationships with students, faculty, and staff

What do we require from you?

Minimum Qualifications

Education:


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in related field, or in progress preferred

Experience:


  • 1+ years of experience with program management

  • 1+ years of experience managing others

  • 1+ years of classroom experience

Skills and Abilities


  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: the pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity

  • Able to align classroom and school culture

  • Able to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data

  • Must be flexible and team-oriented

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work

  • Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds. To bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below. Always required to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
