Job Description

Pay Rate: $87000 to $105000 Per Year.

Position Purpose:

Reports to the Superintendent of Transmission & Distribution. Plans, schedules, and supervises maintenance and operation of construction and distribution system.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Schedules and supervises the operation and maintenance of the distribution system.

  • Develops daily work plans. Supervises and schedules daily field construction activity.

  • Maintain controls over employee productivity and overtime hours.

  • In conjunction with Superintendent of Transmission & Distribution, establishes procedures for handling contingencies, emergencies, and plans for adequate staff for emergencies and employee absences.

  • Maintains necessary records of maintenance work, system repairs, etc.

  • Input and maintain all Maintenance Management Systems.

  • Coordinates and implements preventive maintenance programs.

  • Inspects job sites for safety and proper installation.

  • Emergency duty supervisor for off hours on-call personnel.

  • Fills in for Superintendent of Transmission & Distribution when needed.

  • Prepares construction statistics and assists the management team in the development and compliance with all SOP's, KPI's, and any/all future initiatives.

  • Assist in preparing and maintaining departmental OPEX and CAPEX budgets.

  • Responsible for maintaining and enforcing all Company Health & Safety policies and procedures.

  • Comply with and use all Company audit procedures.

  • Participate in, and prepare, employee performance evaluations and discussions.

  • Work in conjunction with the Operations team to meet all water quality and service standards as set forth by regulatory agencies.

  • Oversee and ensure compliance of all code 753 rules and regulations.

  • Plan, develop, and comply with all PSC and State requirements in the distribution system.

  • Responsible for all DOT licensing and testing in the company, work with local DOT representative to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:


  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • 5 - 7 years of experience working with water distribution system maintenance and repair.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and drawings.

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing applications.

  • Knowledge of inventory system & control practices.

  • Experience with Maintenance Management System.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:


  • Valid local state driver's license required.

  • Ability to acquire New York State Department of Health Grade D water operator license.

Physical Requirements:



  • Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field/office environment: to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time: to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull moderate amounts of weight. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.


  • Sensory: Must be able to see clearly and hear. Must be able to speak to give direction and converse with others.


  • Mental: Must be able to read complex operations and financial reports. Write detailed reports and prepare and deliver presentations. Analyze complex operational and technical challenges and resolve the same.
