Job Description




Purpose of the Job and Expected Outcome



Accurately analyze specimens and handle equipment according to study and client specifications. Perform and document routine and non-routine analysis that delivers on-time, correct results. Validate results using technical and clinical rules with supporting IT systems. Deliver on-time, high-quality data that ultimately will be uploaded seamlessly into the central database, can be reported to investigators and sponsors and properly powers the statistical analysis for a successful submission to regulatory bodies. The focus would be on processing COVID samples, so a virology or chemistry background would be a plus.



Key Accountabilities



  • Conduct laboratory testing according to established global protocols, timelines and established procedures (SOPs) to generate high-quality, error-free, analytical results.

  • Escalate issues potentially impacting patient safety, data quality, service levels

  • Perform and document quality controls per set SOPs and established guidelines.

  • Perform and document routine equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.

  • Comply with relevant GxP, DoH, CAP and CLIA where locally applicable.

  • Perform duties as assigned including assist supervisor in writing SOPs and other relevant delegated tasks, provide support of all laboratory functions including inventory, stocking, housecleaning, archiving and safety tasks, act as back-up to colleagues on leave.

  • Perform clinical validations; integrate with QC/technical validation.




Qualifications




Basic Minimum Requirements:




  • Ability to work on one of the following schedules (1st or 2nd shift):


    • Regular 1st shift schedule: Rotating weeks Monday - Friday and Tuesday - Saturday, 1st Shift 9a-5:30a.


      • Training Schedule is on first shift, the 1st three days starting a 8a.




    • Regular 2nd shift schedule: Rotating weeks Monday - Friday and Tuesday - Saturday, 2nd shift 3p-11:30a.


      • Training Schedule on a combination of first and second shift, the 1st three days starting a 8a.






  • Relevant ASCP certification: Generalist preferred, Hematology acceptable for 2nd shift and chemistry orvirology acceptable for 3rd shift, MLS would also be considered for either role. Can also consider appropriate AMS or AAB certifications as well.

  • Minimum 1 year working in a diagnostic, clinical laboratory working with modern automation

  • Proficient experience usinga commercial grade or customized clinical LIMS

  • Associate of Applied Science, Bachelor of Applied Science in Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology or Medical Technology


  • Authorization to work in the US for any employer, indefinitely, without sponsorship.


The Ideal Candidate would possess:



  • Fluent in English.

  • Ability to set and follow priorities, working accurately following set procedures and under deadlines.

  • Prolonged usage of analytical and computer systems (>75% time). Ability to lift up to 20 kg from time to time

  • Proficient in good laboratory and documentation practices.

  • Ability to multi-task with different instrumentation.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office tools.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, requested to work weekends on a rotation basis.

  • Ability to perform high complexity testing.

  • Capable of identifying problems, root causes and solutions, documenting deviations and notifying superiors.
