Nutrition Care Clerk, First Shift, Food & Nutrition Services

UC Health is hiring a full-time Nutrition Care Clerk for the Food & Nutrition Services for the first shift at Danie Drake Center for Post-Acute Care.

The Nutrition Care Clerk will support Daniel Drake's emergency room (ER) and Level III Trauma Center, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care is the regions premier provider of post-acute and transitional care services, offering a complete range of inpatient and outpatient services including medically complex care, skilled nursing, assisted living, wellness services and research. Daniel Drake Center helps patients recover from catastrophic injury and illness including multi-system organ failure, complex wound care, traumatic brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury.

Daniel Drake is the only hospital-based skilled nursing facility in the Cincinnati region.   • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Health care food service experience helpful but not required. On-the-job training provided.
  • Ability to read, write, follow verbal and written instructions. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Microsoft windows computer applications proficiency preferred.

Receive, process, and implement diet changes utilizing computerized system. Assist patient in menu selection and deliver patient meals. score: N/A


  • Receive, process, and implement diet changes. Respond to inquiries from patients, family members or health care providers regarding meal service or other dietary needs/requests. Receive and deliver meal trays, tube feeding and nourishments to patients and/or patient units. Assist patients with tray set-up. Retrieve soiled trays from rooms, patient care units and return to kitchen. Utilize approved scripts when delivering and collecting meal trays. Utilize effective problem-solving techniques, which promote respect and cultural sensitivity. Check patient unit refrigerators for supply of bulk juices/milk. Order juice/milk to replenish to par levels. Deliver bulk juices to patient unit refrigerators. Check food products in refrigerators for correct labeling and expiration dates. Dispose of products incorrectly labeled and expired.
  • Receive and interpret ADT, diet order, and consult requisitions from hospital patient information system. Utilize department computer software system to enter patient dietary information and patient menu selections. Utilize computer downtime procedure when needed. Maintain standards for data security and confidentiality.
  • Maintain standards of personal hygiene and infection control; maintain standards of dress per department policy. Clean service area and related equipment /carts. Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors. Follow department protocol for telephones, pagers, and other communications devices.
  • Disassemble soiled cafeteria trays upon return to the kitchen; sort, wash and rinse dishes and silverware; load operate, and unload dishwasher and store washed items.
  • Performs other duties or responsibilities as assigned or needed.
