Maintenance Planner

The Maintenance Planner-Scheduler reports to the Maintenance Manager. The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality of the Maintenance Team by anticipating and eliminating potential equipment delays through planning and coordination of labor, parts and material, and equipment access. Supports Land O'Lakes values and integrity in all plant activities. Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 6AM-3PM

Salary Range: $67,000 - $101,000

Essential Functions:
Planning and Scheduling:
Be able to communicate with contractors, walk contractor jobs, and schedule work that aligns with the production schedule

Kitting of parts for planned work orders as required.

Schedule all planned preventative maintenance and maintain records in CMMS system.

Plan all routine work for the mechanics. Add comments and review parts to be able to accomplish the work.

Organize and facilitate weekend planning meetings.

Ensure PMs and WOs are executed safely and with appropriate quality.

Coordinate and assist in scheduling technicians and contractors on down day projects

Partner with the Production Planner to ensure maintenance activities are scheduled.

Review and update PM tasks as needed to ensure they are thorough and accurate.

Prepare work schedules and mechanic duty assignments as required to support the maintenance program and the requirements of production.

Evaluate, prioritize, and schedule maintenance repair requests to ensure timely completion of repair actions.

Follow up with mechanics on work assigned to understand any areas of improvement

Inventory Management:
Track and communicate inventory shortage situations to Maintenance Manager.

Maintain inventory and all purchasing/receiving for all maintenance required repair supplies, parts, tools, etc.

Set up the minimum and maximum trigger points, based off historical usage data for expendable maintenance parts

Assist Maintenance Manager and technicians with inventory and purchasing

Identify and cost out critical control parts

Provide the Maintenance Manager with a written list of material and replacement parts as needed.

Purchasing/Receiving:
Responsible for organization of the parts room and the bar coding of all items in the parts room.

Lead cycle counts of items and enter data into inventory system.

Manage inventory free-stock items, ie. Nuts/Bolts, Conduit, sheet metal, angle iron, etc.

Develop preventive, predictive and periodic maintenance programs and continuously improve processes.

Receive, unpack, sort, arrange and place inventoried items in proper location. Ensure items are tagged with proper identification and stocked.

Coordinate with the engineering group for purchase orders on our capital projects

Initiate purchase orders/requests, maintenance inventory stock orders, current or potential spare

shortages of zero balances.

Additional Duties:
Perform frequent on-the-job inspections to ensure safe working habits, safe work areas, quality of workmanship, effectiveness of maintenance and repairs.

Communicate with vendors or product support technicians to troubleshoot equipment as needed

Works closely with Maintenance Manager and plant manager to ensure all capital projects are closed by year end

Attend daily Production Meetings to assist with maintenance support and report back to manager with meeting issues and concerns.

Assist with daily operational support as needed when the Maintenance Manager is unavailable.

Ensure all paperwork and forms are filled out correctly and audit ready. Filing of all documentation, to include purchase orders, PM reports, etc.

Data entry of information for site specific and HQ reports and KPI scorecards

Provide technical assistance to assigned personnel in the performance of their duties in: Proper operation of equipment, proper use of maintenance manuals and schematics, efficiency in troubleshooting, proper maintenance, and repair of equipment.

Safety Responsibility:
Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.

Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs, policies, and regulations.

Wearing of all PPE including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, head protection, face protection, all when/as needed according to company/plant policies.)

Reporting of any/all unsafe conditions/acts or potentials to management and address it immediately.

Successfully complete all required safety training programs while executing and adhering to the practices learned.

Experience/Qualifications Required:
High School Diploma/GED and 3+ plus years of stock room or planning/scheduling experience from manufacturing/production

Strong understanding of maintenance or mechanical aptitude is required

Understanding of maintenance and reliability performance metrics

Must have the ability to run various computer applications that apply to the department and business to an acceptable degree, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Products (Excel), and CMMS programs (Catalyst, Maintenance Manager, etc.)

Must be able to do mathematical calculations

Some College courses or certificates is preferred

Physical Demands:
Will need to be able to work in a hot environment where temperatures can vary from 58° to 105° degrees.

Will need to be available to work Overtime, Weekends including Saturday and Sunday based on production needs.

Time Demands:
On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime.

When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs - this is a requirement of this position.
