Summary/objective


The Director of Innovative Technology Solutions is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and optimization of key emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, to provide innovative solutions for HORNE and its customers. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic vision, and leadership abilities to drive innovation and transformation.


Essential functions

  • Develop and articulate a comprehensive strategy aligned with HORNE’s goals and objectives, focusing on AI, automation and evolving technology solutions. 

  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI, robotics process automation and machine learning (ML) to drive efficiency, improve productivity, and enhance user experience (UX) and customer experiences (CX). 

  •  Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. 



  • Develop charters, workplans and staffing plans for all technology initiatives.

  • Manage risk, resource allocation, project prioritization, and research and recommend new systems, software products and services.



  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, ML, RPA, natural language processing, and other emerging technologies to productize services for our customers. 

  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and impact of AI and automation projects. 

  • Ensure that AI and automation initiatives comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and ethical guidelines. 

  • Establish protocols for data privacy, security, and responsible AI usage, mitigating risks associated with bias, discrimination and/or unintended consequences.  


Supervisory responsibilities



  • Work with a multidisciplinary team of technologists, data scientists, project managers, business analysts and other professionals. 

  • For AI & Automation projects, monitor progress, address bottlenecks or challenges, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure successful return on AI investments. 

  • Continuously evaluate and optimize AI and automation processes to drive efficiency gains and cost savings. 


Work environment


Work to be performed in HORNE office setting or remotely.


Physical demands



  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.


 


Travel required


Travel required estimated at 10% or as determined by business needs


Required education and experience



  • Advanced degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field; MBA or business management qualifications are a plus. 

  • Extensive experience in AI, ML, Product Development, or related domains, with a proven track record of successfully leading large-scale development projects or teams. 

  • Strong understanding of AI and automation technologies, including their applications, limitations, and best practices. 

  • Experience with modern databases, cloud environments, and data ecosystems 

  • Experience defining and leading large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders 

  •  Experience within a leadership role with proven success with building and maintaining teams 

  • Background check required

  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, influence decision-making, and build consensus across diverse stakeholders. 

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on driving business value through innovation and technology. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences. 

  • A commitment to ethical and responsible AI practices, with a keen awareness of the societal implications and risks associated with AI and automation.
