Operator IV (Team Leader)
DESCRIPTION:
Operates any piece of equipment in the absence of any personnel on shift. Assists with the supervision of the MDF/HDF raw board production crew.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Capable of operating 3 of the 4 Operator positions in THDF. (Press, Refiner, GTS or Outfeed)
- Capable of covering the Assistant Operator positions and operate the front end loader if needed.
- Should be able to run the grinder if needed for emergency fuel supply.
- Cover the line while Shift Supervisor is off or unavailable.
- Conduct raw board inspections and assist supervisor in making corrections to minimize defects or substandard material.
- Conduct walk through inspections of the area to monitor equipment and housekeeping and assist in correcting concerns.
- Assist Shift Supervisor in raw board production and take action when needed to minimize downtime.
- Assist in monitoring all employees and assure they are working in a safe manner.
- Assists the Shift Supervisor to ensure that all company policies are followed.
- Take part in and sometimes lead root cause analysis teams to solve problems and generate creative ideas to eliminate repetitive concerns and issues.
- Constantly monitor process and production equipment to identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Assist Shift Supervisor in completing notifications to ensure all work orders are scheduled for work needing to be completed.
- Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
- Follow all established standard operating procedures
- Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
- Perform other tasks assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires 2 yrs experience in a manufacturing environment
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good listening skills and able to follow direction
- Data analysis and interpretation skills
- Ability to plan, schedule, and clearly communicate thoughts and work instructions.
- Ability to set priorities based on company goals and manage multiple tasks.
