Job Summary



The Associate Director, Alumni Engagement will implement strategy to grow alumni engagement in the west coast region of the United States and inspire alumni to continue to engage with the school and community in meaningful ways while being based in Chicago, IL. This position provides oversight and support to multiple alumni communities and identifies opportunities to expand the breadth and depth of alumni engagement. This role will also increase pipeline development, alumni career connections, student engagement, global alignment, and affinity connections, working towards increasing the percent of alumni engaged and other key metrics. This position will be required to engage key partners across Chicago Booth and the University. Major areas of focus include alumni communities, affinity programming, diversity and inclusion, events, communication, reporting and analytics.


This position is based in Chicago, IL and will require 30% travel.



Responsibilities



  • Implements the vision for regionally based alumni engagement in the west coast region of the US.

  • Engages in relationship and volunteer management activities, identifying interests, cultivating engagement, and connecting alumni to Chicago Booth.

  • Leverages technology and social media platforms to enhance Chicago Booth alumni communities and ambassadors.

  • Develops market/business plan for key alumni markets in the west coast that increase alumni engagement.

  • Organizes and engages alumni through events and programs to increase engagement.

  • Engages in relationship and volunteer management activities, identifying interests, cultivating engagement, and connecting alumni to Chicago Booth. Manages a portfolio of alumni volunteers. Measures key metrics to track alumni engagement and progress towards goals, with our key metric being percent of alumni engaged.

  • Provides partnership to Advancement team members, including Reunions, Student, and Recent Alumni Engagement; Global Engagement; Affinity Programs and Engagement; Annual Fund; and Individual Giving.

  • Collaborates with Booth Admissions, Career Services, Student Services and the University Alumni Association on events and programs.

  • Collaborates with Booth research centers and serves as liaison.

  • Coordinates communication to alumni including collaboration with other school and university partners.

  • Participates in strategies for alumni engagement components of fundraising efforts.

  • Ensures alignment of alumni events and activities with the goals and objectives of the department, Booth, and university partners.

  • Builds knowledge of internal systems and databases to maintain accurate data, tracks and records all alumni meetings and interactions in central database.

  • Helps manage US alumni engagement budgets.

  • Assists in leading and coordinating the planning, organization, and management of events, programs, and services designed to cultivate and maintain ties between the University of Chicago and key constituent groups. May assist in or individually create a marketing plan to maximize participation and engagement of alumni, parents, and friends.

  • Has a deep understanding of strategic planning, data management, the creation and tracking of metrics, and the creation and implementation of new constituent relations programs worldwide. Measures, tracks, and reports participation and success of initiatives.

  • Performs other related work as needed.




Minimum Qualifications




Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

  • Direct experience in higher education or advancement strongly preferred.

Working Conditions



  • This position is currently expected to work a minimum three days per week in the office.

  • Attend events outside of business hours.
