Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Mid-level position involved in the application of client relationships, project management, design, industrial freight operations, understanding of the freight rail construction process.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):


  • 12+ years of experience with freight rail projects for Class Ones and Industries.

  • Experienced with CAD to perform all aspects of track & grading design and rail yard operations planning

  • Managing the design aspects of a rail project, while coordinating with other entities required to move the project to construction.

  • Understanding of how rail facilities are constructed and operated.

  • Good communication skills with clients and staff.

  • Solid reputation within the freight rail industry.

  • Periodic travel for project meetings and client meetings.

  • Ability to work in both an office or remote setting.

  • Ability to coordinate and prepare the scope and fee preparation of freight design proposals, with some support from supervisor.

  • The desire to work with a team and promote both personal and company growth.

  • Makes decisions independently on and represents the organization in meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field from accredited 4-year university or 12+ years of related experience.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business practices, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and prepare manuals and estimates for rail developments. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

  • Experience with managing the day-to-day planning, design, and staff of freight rail industry projects.

  • Experienced with all aspects of general track layout and design, with an understanding of rail car movements and operations.

  • Be fluent with or become fluent with the Microstation program to perform track & grading design.

  • Be fluent with the Microsoft Office tools, depending on the project requirements.

  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
