Meet the team:





  • The Director of Innovation Valuation Analytics will evaluate, measure and calculate the value of current portfolio, partnerships, investments, and business development opportunities. Will be in charge of creating business cases, develop financial models, and identify financial/operational/strategic risks and opportunities to support and execute our corporate strategy. Collaborate closely with internal stakeholder (Marketing, Sales, R&D, Finance, Executive Team, etc).





  • As a leader driving Innovation Strategy, the Director of Innovation Valuation will be at the junction of unique business venture ideas from senior executives, cross-functional colleagues, and various external partners. Innovation Strategy focused on finding new initiatives that lower the costs of goods, increase market opportunities, and improve accessibility for Dexcom's customers and patients across the global enterprise.





  • A successful Director of Innovation Valuation has strong business knowledge to research and determine the key value drivers of innovation and partnership opportunities; broad financial modeling skills to communicate potential and evaluate actual value creation; and excellent communication and influencing skills to work within a highly matrixed organization, turning opportunity into reality for driving Dexcom future growth.




Where you come in:



  • Evaluate new product ideas, existing portfolio products, and potential partnership opportunities based on their value and long-term revenue potential (including how they affect topline, profitability, EPS, patients, etc).

  • Support the creation and maintenance of the World-Wide Market Model (WWMM) by providing insights and visualizations for commercial analytics and finance needs

  • Work closely with partnership teams and product management organization within strategic marketing to drive quantitative prioritizations

  • Provide strong quantitative analysis to support strategic initiatives - scenario and sensitivity analysis, discounted cash flow, accretion/dilution analysis, comparable product/category/company, and precedent acquisition analyses.

  • Provide executive-level materials for CLT, ELT, BoD, Corporate Development and other senior executives.

  • Develops quantitative analysis to provide proactive insight into business drivers and financial forecasts and results.

  • Build deep knowledge of Dexcom business through regular communication with partners across commercial insights, sales, marketing, R&D, finance and corporate strategy.

  • Drive internal cross-functional product and partnership teams towards successful evaluation, analysis, product development execution, and partner integration.

  • Develop insights from landscaping work and WWMM to drive quantitative decision making and financial impact of scenario analysis with key market players

  • Manage department headcount, budget, and forecasts

  • Manage a team of strategic analysts to drive and inform aspects of our commercial and corporate strategy




What makes you successful:



  • Extensive knowledge of financial planning and modeling to support business cases, investment initiatives, partnerships, strategic planning, budgeting, portfolio planning, and long-range planning.

  • Skill in quickly modeling or creating valuation models to support portfolio-level decision making from infrastructure projects to R&D technology projects

  • Experience in leading people and projects both directly and indirectly

  • Skill in showing creativity through innovative modeling to quantitatively evaluate different opportunity types

  • Skill in communicating effectively at all levels of the organization including to the Board of Directors

  • Proven history of strong financial management skills including accounting, forecasting, and financial reporting

  • Skill in consolidating financial, technological, strategic alignment, and market insights into a business strategy recommendations to present to the executive staff or BoD

  • Skill in filtering overall insights into concise summaries for delivery to Commercial and Business leaders

Travel Required:



  • 15-25%




Experience and Education Requirements:



  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of industry experience ( (Strategy, Analytics, Forecasting, Investor Relations, and/or Management Consulting). Advanced degree preferred.

  • 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry

  • 10+ years experience working in the biotech, medical device, or healthcare sector or experience working in the investment banking sector in these areas
