Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Pressure Vessel Estimator's primary function is to prepare accurate estimates to produce pressure vessels and other work as needed, all while providing recommendations for continuous improvement and productivity viability. This role includes providing knowledge, such as cost and time, to help support profitable business decisions. The estimator must have an analytical mindset while also being able to manage relationships with clients. There also must be a high level of comradery between this role and the project managers, to improve production processes and manufacturing reporting. All decisions and actions must be made in a way that upholds Houston Process and Design's Mission Statement and Core Values.

Job Qualifications:
• Proven experience as an estimator, or similar position, within the manufacturing industry, preferably in pressure vessel manufacturing or related sectors.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking and business acumen, with a track record of driving growth and profitability.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, quality standards, ASME codes, and safety protocols.
• Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and project management principals.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
• Background knowledge of tooling with a desire to consistently improve processes.
• Commitment to safety standards and their continuous improvement.
• Ability to make sound business decisions based on projected planning and scheduling data.
• Competency in fact-based problem solving and analysis.
• BSc/BA in engineering, construction science, or relevant discipline preferred.
• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) preferred.

Technical requirements:
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
• Skilled use in precision measuring tools.
• General knowledge of material types/grades and their machinability.
• Proficient in relevant estimating and scheduling software.
• Basic computer knowledge including Word, Excel, and ERP software navigation
• Experience with Compress software preferred.

Responsibilities:
• Operational Management:

o Provide knowledge of costs and benefits that support profitable business decisions.

o Create detailed estimates in a timely manner.

o Understand and make yourself knowledgeable of the full scope of the project.

o Analyze the key variables for the cost, as well as the areas of risk.

o Calculate the costs of work such as the labor, material, production times, etc.

o Gather and negotiate quotes by subcontractors and vendors.

o Utilize software to get the most accurate data analysis, scheduling, and budgeting for each project.

o Standardize processes throughout the department such as how we do estimates and what tools we use.

o Collaborate with the Production Manager to verify capabilities as required.

o Forecast company's results and help other managers identify shortfalls to processes.
• Financial Management:

o Identify opportunities for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and improved profitability.

o Monitor financial metrics and key performance indicators to assess the department's profitability and make data-driven decisions.

o Monitor the production hours executed against the planned hours assigned for each project, to ensure projects are profitable.
• Client Relations:

o Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, and vendors, while understanding their needs and expectations.

o Stay apprised of industry trends and innovations that are applicable to the company to support continuous improvement.

Estimate Turnover --- Back to Client with 48 hours

Labor Usage --- Planned Labor => Actual

Profitability --- Estimates => 10% Profit

On Time Shipment --- OTS > 98%
