Nationally renowned public affairs/political consulting firm seeks highly motivated intern at the firm's Sacramento, California office. Intern responsibilities include research and writing on government relations, client assignments, and communications work, including social media management. The Intern will support the firm on a number of projects that shape high-stakes policies and political challenges for a large range of clients. Intern tasks will revolve around coalition building, legislative research, and media monitoring.
The applicant should be a talented writer and researcher as well as a quick learner, a resourceful problem-solver, and a self-starter. The applicant must also have strong communication skills and a good sense of humor.
Requirements:
Commitment of five full days and 40 hours per week. Interns typically work 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with a lunch break (start and end time is subject to change in response to client needs).
Ability to make 6-month commitment.
Senior-year standing or recent college graduate.
Excellent writing and research skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and G-suite.
Basic knowledge of social media, with a willingness to learn.
Exceptional time management skills and comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Able to commute to the Sacramento office Monday through Thursday with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
Highly desired:
Prior communications, public relations, campaign, legislative, or administrative internship or work experience.
Previous office or administrative experience.
Experience with media monitoring (i.e. daily news clips) or a willingness to learn.
Interest in California legislation and politics.
