Job Description:

The President of this family-owned business will be a humble, hands-on leader. The first objective for this role is to immerse yourself into all aspects of the business, including plant floor/manufacturing processes and operations.

The President's duties include taking a customer order from order point to delivery by:
  • Adhering to product standards through collaboration with:

--production team

--quality control

--distribution
  • Delivering products on time at an established cost.
  • Overseeing maintenance for production equipment and the physical plant facilities.
  • Additional responsibilities are listed below while recognizing that changes will be incorporated as efficient operations may dictate:

Position Responsibilities

As President, s/he will:
  • Lead from company headquarters in Western NC.
  • Oversee manufacturing operations; spend significant amount of time on the plant-floor (hands-on approach to learning the business)
  • Spearhead company functions, including sales, marketing, finance, and operations, with a team of direct reports.
  • Lead strategic planning and execution. Push for greater market share. Lead the company into new markets.
  • Oversee delivery of monthly financial and operating reports to the Board. Lead monthly Board discussions.
  • Supervise the annual budgeting process.
  • Maintain a collaborative and data-driven corporate culture.
  • Provide financial support for company ownership.
  • Spearhead finance & analysis for operations planning. (Accounting and tax impacts of sales opportunities).
  • Lead, support, and develop the leadership team and talent management, including motivating, coaching, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Complete special assignments as required.

This includes hands-on plant management expertise, as summarized below:

Process knowledge:
  • Learn and implement all production processes

--Learn and update SOP and SSPOs for all processes.
  • Equipment operation

--Know each piece of equipment thoroughly enough to understand the capabilities and limitations of that equipment.
  • Time Study all operations - improve existing incentive programs

--All products will be studied on a rotating basis or as needed to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

Production Planning:
  • Weekly and daily production planning with Fishbowl, working with purchasing and department managers for the most efficient and effective production order.

Personnel:
  • Collaborate with Safety Management OSHA regulations
  • Establish and maintain a viable production team

--Use incentive standards and attitude to rate employees in creating the production team
  • Develop line supervisors as needed.
  • Drug testing program as necessary.

Quality Control:
  • Acquire a complete knowledge of product quality on each item (Product Spec Book). There must be a 100% willingness to work with QC personnel to meet all customer and SQF requirements.

Inventory:
  • Inventory Maintenance Program

--Work with purchasing agent (using Fishbowl inventory program) to maintain current and accurate inventory of all finished goods, raw materials, packaging, and associated materials.

--Maintain all items in accurate and infestation-free order.

Maintenance:
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Director (MD)

--Oversight of PM programs (including work order system) with MD to meet SQF and OSHA standards

--Learn to recognize when unscheduled maintenance is necessary to maintain production standards

Sanitation:
  • Product sanitation methods

--Learn and institute sanitation rules and processes per SQF standards working with the SQF practitioner - QC Manager

--Plant cleanliness and sanitation - all areas of the plant

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree. MBA required.
  • Located in the Western NC region or willing to relocate. Believer in in-person communication and leadership.
  • 15+ years of work experience.
  • Sales & marketing - experience selling into commercial markets is a plus.
  • Finance and operational experience.
  • Culture leader able to develop individuals and teams across various locations.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Data-driven, quantitative approach to management.
  • Necessary computer skills include intermediate+ skills in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook- and the ability to learn additional inventory and planning programs.
  • Post-Hiring Training Requirements: HACCP Certified, PCQI Certified, Fishbowl, and Fishbowl Go Training.
