We are seeking a Financial Crimes investigator to join our BSA team to assist and support Lake Shore Savings Bank's BSA Officer to ensure all regulatory requirements are met and work is completed in adherence to the Bank's BSA Compliance Program. This position will primarily be responsible for Alert Disposition, BSA Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), BSA Customer Due Diligence (CDD), and Fraud/Anti-Money Laundering Investigations

Qualified candidates must be able to work in person in an office located in either Erie or Chautauqua county.

Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

  • Assists the BSA Officer with the implementation, monitoring, and administration of all aspects of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) compliance program under the guidance of the BSA Officer and Compliance Officer of the bank.
  • Responsible for thoroughly investigating and documenting various levels of Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/fraud alerts as assigned and, when necessary, preparing cases for Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR).
  • Performs various quality control reviews and monitoring pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, Anti-Money Laundering Program, OFAC, and Customer Identification Program compliance using industry standard and regulatory guidance to ensure the Bank's compliance efforts are maintained on a daily basis. Identify customer-related trends, patterns and issues associated with money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud, and other suspicious transactions. Ensures all transactions and/or customers deemed suspicious are referred to department management in a timely manner and in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
  • Review entry of BSA/AML related reports and documents from the on-boarding process, including CDD and Beneficial Ownership.
  • Disposition of Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and fraud alerts.
  • Review and update risk factors for customers in Verafin.
  • Reviews and/or prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as assigned.
  • Review system generated daily reports for Monetary Instrument Logs (MIL) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTR).
  • Assists with annual CTR Exemption Reviews and maintaining the "exempt list".
  • Keeps abreast of Bank Secrecy regulations, especially as related to developments in Anti-Money Laundering techniques, controls and monitoring.
  • Monitor accounts for proper TINs and follows up accordingly on missing or inaccurate TIN.
  • Investigate fraud related matters which may involve outreach to the customer, branch and law enforcement.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.
  • Ability to manage time and adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to gather, organize, and interpret data.
  • Ability to formulate independent preliminary conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement when assessing risk.

Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years' experience working in Financial Crimes Investigations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of regulatory compliance concepts and practices in a financial institution or similar organization.
  • Strong organization, analytical and project management skills, along with solid decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, proven track record of effectively driving performance within a banking environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to write clearly and concisely, and the ability to verbally articulate alert/investigation findings. Able to work autonomously.
  • Additional duties may be assigned or requested by the BSA Officer or member of Senior Management.
  • CAMS, CFCI or CFE credential preferred or willing to obtain certification.
  • Must maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and all other regulatory, security and bank policies and procedures.
  • Must act in accordance to the Lake Shore Savings Bank Code of Conduct Policy.
