Job Summary
Project Architects come up with the plan that best meets our clients' business goals. They take ownership of a project and manage its technical, financial, and scheduling status from inception through completion. The architect works closely with the design, pre-construction, business development, and construction teams to determine Architectural and Engineering needs as the projects moves through programming, detailed design, construction, and startup
General Duties:
Manage a project from Design perspective from beginning to end.
Coordination of all necessary disciplines when designing a project.
Meet with owners of project to fully understand the needs of the project.
Meet with internal Pre-Construction and Construction teams throughout the project to make sure it is staying within scope and budget.
Instrumental in the conceptual planning of the site and building.
Manage the design schedule to include, time to completion and necessary meetings with internal and external customers to make sure the project meets the requirements.
Submittal review of outside contractors drawings to make sure they are in conformance with design.
Physically visit job sites 1 time per month to visually monitor progress and staying within scope or original design.
Respond to issues brought up from the construction team and come up with solutions as required.
Work closely with Project Manager and Construction Superintendent on each assigned project.
Adjust the original design as construction progresses to make sure drawings match the build.
Manage project production and manpower needs to maximize economic success.
Perform building code analysis and meet with building officials to properly understand requirements for design.
Participate in the creation of construction documents using Revit.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelors or Masters of Architecture
Professional registration preferred (not required)
Minimum 8 years design and construction document experience.
Proficiency with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD preferred
Possesses all the skills for Architect, plus:
Manage the project program from project award to final certificate of occupancy
Present design concept to project stakeholders
Understand existing site conditions and impact on facility layout
Coordinate with internal Pre-Construction and Construction teams to ensure compliance with scope, budget and schedule throughout the project
Manage project production and manpower needs
Meet schedules and work closely with the construction management team
Create unique thermal details for project specific conditions
Create unique architectural details for project specific conditions
Interpret building and accessibility codes and meet with building officials to achieve compliance for unique project conditions
Meet with clients to establish programming needs of the project.
Conduct design review and coordination meetings
Identify changes in project scope that require additional services
Perform quality control reviews throughout the construction document phase
Review submittals to ensure compliance with project documents and client standards
Conduct monthly site visits to monitor construction progress and quality
Collaborate with the Project Manager and Construction Superintendent to develop solutions to issues identified in the field
