In addition to other duties as assigned by the employer, the responsibilities and qualifications of the Senior Estimator to include the following: • Interpret highway plans and specifications and execute quantity take offs. • Generate estimates using the appropriate estimating tool (customized estimating spreadsheet, HCSS HeavyBid, etc.) • Interact and communicate directly with individuals at all levels of the organization, and also with contractors, government agencies, and job inspectors. • Formulate reports concerning such areas as scheduling and work progress. • Prepare cost analysis in computer for each project. • Occasional job site visits are required in order to deliver bids, review field layout, and measure for the job. • Requisition pricing for supplies and materials to complete project. • Review estimates and revisions for completeness and accuracy.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands. • Excellent mathematical skills, including application and use in problem-solving. • Work requires continual attention to detail and demonstrated accuracy. • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities using time efficiently while meeting deadlines. • Must be proficient in a variety of computer applications such as MS Word and Excel spreadsheets. Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is a plus. • Team player - demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written and communication skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
10+ years of relevant highway estimating experience.
PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED • Ability to walk jobsite over all types of terrain.
