Amotec is conducting a search for a talented Director of Operations for a leading global aerospace manufacturing company located in the Los Angeles area. This role will play a pivotal part in directing and optimizing operations to achieve strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Summary:
As the Director of Operations, you will oversee the manufacturing and production control functions, developing strategies to meet operational objectives on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Your responsibilities will include fostering a zero-injury culture, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance objectives are met, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives for long-term benefits.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Foster a culture of safety compliance and environmental responsibility.
Ensure the achievement of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance objectives.
Collaborate with support departments to maintain internal quality standards and meet customer requirements.
Analyze, establish, and communicate performance standards.
Optimize productivity, minimize costs, and achieve safety, quality, inventory, and throughput targets.
Plan and manage labor, equipment, tooling, and supply requirements.
Develop and communicate area priorities and measure performance against them.
Lead the implementation of effective systems for quality improvement and on-time delivery.
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to achieve scrap and cost reduction goals.
Provide effective leadership to maintain a positive work environment.
Manage controllable variable costs and staffing levels.
Lead Continuous Improvement projects to increase revenue and reduce costs.
Support cross-training initiatives to enhance workforce skills.
Administer policies and procedures and provide support to department employees.
Required Skills and Experience:
7+ years of Aerospace/Defense Manufacturing experience
Experience leading teams of 100+ people with strong performance management skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and QAD.
Quality-focused and production-driven mindset.
Experience in process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering.
