Job Overview:

As our Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and supervision of mechanical systems within our cleanroom projects. Your focus will be on creating and maintaining various environmental systems to ensure temperature, humidity, and pressure remain within customer-supplied limits. You will be instrumental in ensuring that mechanical systems meet industry standards and integrate seamlessly with other components of the project. You will work closely with architects, structural engineers, and other professionals to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions.

This role will have the opportunity to apply your engineering expertise on projects with industry leaders of groundbreaking Medical Device, Pharmaceutical and Micro-electronic startups.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical System Design:
  • Experience in the detailed design of HVAC projects including chilled/hot water piping, pumps and Hydronics, process gas piping, DX piping, condensate piping, supply/return ductwork, specialty exhaust ductwork, airflow valves.
  • The ability to successfully prepare designs that include new construction, retrofit, and plant design, as well as documenting the process of change and as-built modifications.
  • The ability to appropriately take conceptual design through construction, drawing development, economic & energy analysis, load calculations, design and layout of equipment, and duct/ piping systems.
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and other mechanical engineering concepts.

Project Planning and Coordination:
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to ensure the timely and efficient integration of mechanical systems into cleanroom projects.
  • 3D modeling of HVAC systems utilizing the latest AutoCAD and other mechanical design software to develop designs and plans.
  • to complete projects on time and develop and follow schedules with strict deadlines.

Code Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure that mechanical systems comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, codes, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of current energy code standards, especially California Title 24

Technical Analysis and Problem-Solving:
  • Conduct technical analysis, simulations, and calculations to optimize mechanical system performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Identify and resolve design challenges and technical issues.

Quality Assurance and Testing:
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of mechanical systems to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and provide technical guidance to construction teams.

Client Interaction and Communication:
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to understand project requirements, provide technical expertise, and address concerns.
  • Prepare and present project proposals, reports, and presentations.

Team Leadership and Mentoring:
  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers.
  • Provide guidance, support, and technical expertise to junior staff members.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.

Risk Management and Compliance:
  • Identify potential risks, conflicts, and deviations from project requirements.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in mechanical engineering design of HVAC/Mechanical solutions, with a focus on construction projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) Bluebeam and engineering analysis tools.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards related to mechanical systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
