Job Description:

We are a general contractor in with offices in Northern Virginia. We have projects all over the Virginia, Maryland and DC area and are looking for a dependable, motivated person to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager in our special projects division.

The Assistant Project Manager assists the Project Manager with running projects and takes the lead on smaller projects. With the following roles and responsibilities:
  1. Administer and track submittals, RFIs, issue logs and other project management tools.
  2. Write, distribute meeting minutes and facilitate OAC Meetings.
  3. Create and process change orders and pay requisitions (Owners and Subs) after reviewing with PM.
  4. Ensure subcontractor submittals are in compliance with contract documents and subcontract agreement.
  5. Assist PM in all aspects of construction administration and coordination.
  6. Ensures and confirms trade SOW are clear and accurate.
  7. Prepare documents for regular project team meetings.
  8. Oversee project close-out to ensure all obligations to client are delivered in a timely manner.
  9. Maintain organized project files in company network.
  10. Take lead on smaller projects.
  11. Assists in the estimating and preparation of the bid documents.


The ideal candidate would have the following skills and qualifications:
  • College degree - in the construction/engineering/architecture field desired, and 2-4+ years in the construction business
  • Or high school diploma w/ 6-8+ years with field experience.
  • Proficient in computer use and project management software including Procore, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Project.
  • Strong ability to review and process submittals, RFIs, proposals and change orders.
  • Ability to develop and update schedules.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Understands estimating and capable of developing estimates for change orders and small projects.
  • Understands construction means and methods.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts.
