The role of the Product Development Metallurgist includes but is not limited to the following:
Leading research and development of sheet steel grades including hot rolled, cold rolled, and galvanized/galvannealed products.
Leading/coordinating trials interfacing with operation, technical, and commercial teams.
Leading/coordinating qualification efforts of new and existing products with automotive OEM's/tiers interfacing with different NSAR teams, other Nucor divisions, as well as 3rd party laboratories.
Supporting customer technical service including direct contact with customers.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent technical/engineering related steel production experience
2 years of related engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
M.S./Ph.D. in Metallurgy or material science.
Sheet steel experience.
Automotive steel related experience.
Proven track record of problem solving and process improvements
