The role of a Collections Specialist includes aiding in the collections of NSF checks, Accounts Receivable past 60 days, and Tenant evictions while having basic knowledge of relevant laws. The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent attention to detail, prioritize accuracy, and be open to collaborating with others. Moreover, the Collections Specialist should be adaptable and willing to provide support beyond the core responsibilities of the role in case of necessity.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the Accounting Team to ensure timely collections and handle escalations of uncollectable rent/debt
Skip Trace certain delinquent members by pulling files, calling references, or using other means to locate Tenants using Accurint, Transunion TLO, and Credit Reports
Strong communication skills - Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas to peers and customers
Strong negotiation skills - Ability to negotiate mutually beneficial arrangements with the customer
Strong listening skills - Ability to listen and understand direction
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, preferred but not required
5+ years of commercial, business-to-business, collections required, preferably managing a large portfolio of accounts
Demonstrated ability to interface with both internal and external partners and customers
Effective analytical skills with knowledge of Microsoft Excel required
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, time management, and prioritization skills necessary to be effective in a fast-paced work environment
High problem-solving skills
