Working with a small team of Software and Data Engineers, you will play a critical role in transforming raw data into well-formed models to accelerate research for Pure Lithium's battery technology.
You will interact directly with scientists in the laboratory, translating their requirements into code. As you architect data models primed for analytics, you will act as the point person for researchers to build dashboards and other reporting layers.
Responsibilities:
Design and build data models in SQL, using tools like dbt
Collaborate with research scientists on requirements gathering
Enable staff to write their own reporting queries and build their own reports
Configure and optimize cloud data warehouse, including permissions, compute and storage parameters, and table schemas
Diagnose long-running and resource-intensive queries, improving performance
Productionize dbt flows, using data orchestration tools such as Prefect and Fivetran
Reduce complexity within our data pipelines while maintaining performance
Maintain a data dictionary and field questions about how to best leverage our data warehouse for reporting purposes
Qualifications:
Expertise with data transformation tools (e.g., dbt)
Expertise with data modeling approaches and philosophies (e.g., Kimball)
Expertise with at least one cloud data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift)
Experience using version control such as Git and collaboration platforms such as Github
Knowledge of Python in the context of data transformations and manipulations
Experience with Analytics or Business Intelligence tools like Hex, Jupyter Notebook, Tableau
Knowledge of common data integration patterns (e.g., CDC, ELT, etc.)
Knowledge of common data integration / orchestration platforms (e.g., Prefect, Fivetran, Apache Airflow)
