This client specializes in custom and specialty chemical manufacturing, crafting solutions for diverse markets like oil & gas, paints & coatings, and oleochemicals. They're known for distillation & reaction expertise, blending high-quality products with personalized service for leading chemical companies.
As a Project Development Manager you will be responsible for developing projects from conceptual level through FEL stages with sufficient scoping and details to produce Cost Estimate, while also managing the Process Design Engineers and DCS engineers for the Solvent business.
Candidates will have: strong process design experience and a Chemical Engineering degree
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Collaborates with Technology/Eng Manager & site Leadership to prioritize projects?
Drives Projects to IFD status, applying concepts such as:? Scope optimization, Fit-For-Purpose approach, Risk-Based decision making?
Contributes to ?capital Project work process development & Implementation?
Contributes to Project workflow / Roadmap roll-out, implementation?
Supports Mechanical Integrity activities.
Supports Project Execution team with? cost estimates? and project execution strategy? ?
Supports Process Tech / Eng Manager with content development, Design Practices, Tools and Methods?
EDUCATION
Chemical Engineering degree
Organic Chemistry background is a Plus.
EXPERIENCE / REQUIRED SKILLS
15+ years of process design experience.
Leadership experience
Experience managing multiple projects and changing priorities.
Embedded site-based experience.
Advanced skills in application of simulation tools such as ChemCAD, Aspen, HTRI, etc
Experience with Batch Reactor processes, campaign based operation and plant Dynamic behavior
Experience developing H&MBs for steady state and Batch operation.
Strong knowledge of major units of operation and how to select, design and specify:
Heat Exchangers, Pumps, L/V separators, Pressurized vessels including Storage Tanks
Distillation column Design, Control and specification
Reactor basic design concepts, Reactor controls
Instrumentations design & Selection
Fired Heater Design - Plus
Ability to analyze, diagnose and troubleshoot
Moderate to strong knowledge of Process Control
Knowledge of main utility systems such as Steam, Condensate, Cooling Water, Hot Oil, etc
Hydraulic Evaluations
Experience with PRV contingency analysis, PRV sizing Relief Header sizing
Strong knowledge of PHA, LOPA, SIL Systems and Protective Systems major components
Knowledge of codes and standards such as ASME, API, NFPA
