Job Description:

We believe what's good for the planet is good for business. We're CarbonBetter, a certified minority-owned energy logistics and sustainability consulting firm tackling climate change from the inside. We think differently and do things differently because that's what it takes to operate in the status quo while accelerating the transition to a net-zero future.

We're proud to be the largest minority-owned business in Austin and the 4th largest privately owned business headquartered in Austin. We're growing our team and looking for creative thinkers who want to help us build a better future.

Position Overview:

We're looking for a People & Culture Generalist to help create a best-in-class employee experience at CarbonBetter.

In this role, you will be a hands-on doer building the people and culture functions at CarbonBetter. Reporting to the leadership team, this role will be responsible for developing programs that support culture, employee career development, engagement, recognition, and communication, with the goal of evolving into responsibility for legal and compliance HR aspects over time.

How You'll Make an Impact at CarbonBetter:
  • You will own employee experience at CarbonBetter-from our public company profiles to hiring to onboarding and beyond. You will ensure that lived experiences reflect our values throughout the journey from applicant to extended tenure.
  • In partnership with the leadership team, you will develop performance management, career development, and culture programs that are consistent with our values and goals as a company. This includes standardizing employee reviewing processes and manager operating frameworks, employee recognition, onboarding and offboarding processes, compensation and benefits planning, facilitating quarterly goal-setting processes and All Hands meetings, guiding new and emerging people managers through training and development to support their growth, developing and supporting ERGs, continuing our focus on diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and managing team and company events-all while being a trusted resource to every team member.
  • You will support the leadership team and managers with recruiting tasks for full-time hires, contractors, non-employees, and interns. To establish a talent pipeline, you will build relationships with local higher education institutions' career service departments and student organizations.
  • You will support effective change management and communication strategies to manage transitions associated with company growth and other changes. You will focus on consistently keeping the company, divisions, teams, and team members on the same page over time.
  • In partnership with our PEO and payroll specialist, you'll handle select HR tasks, including compliance with all relevant laws and best practices, while advancing your education and skills in the HR function as part of your professional development.
  • You will manage office maintenance, workflow logistics, office access and security, supplies, and inventory, and maintain hard copy and digital filing systems.

Why You'll Love This Role:
  • We do hard but meaningful work by serving the energy needs of today while helping businesses and consumers build a net-zero tomorrow. We've spent the last 12 years building an organization that can deliver truly effective climate solutions because we have the unique capabilities of energy logistics-serving companies and consumers-and climate consulting, under one roof.
  • We're minority-owned, over 50% women, 40% people of color, and the 4th largest privately owned business headquartered in Austin. This is our DNA, and in this role, you will help us do even more in these areas.
  • We have an incredible team who work hard and care about each other and our mission. This role will accelerate what's already good by helping us build the people function our team deserves.
  • We are a team of doers and builders. We love problem-solving, and with a flat structure, we work to enable every team member to operate effectively. In this role, you'll make an impact daily.

Salary Range:
  • $65,000-$90,000

Benefits:
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401k with matching eligibility
  • Flexible PTO policy
  • Mobile phone stipend
  • Work with a passionate team of problem-solvers

Office Location:
  • This position works on-site at our Austin HQ at 2305 E Cesar Chavez St., Austin, TX 78702.
