Jerry Pittman is hiring a Senior 3D Outfitting Designer in Panama City, Florida.
Functions: Functions as a Senior 3D Outfitting Designer, model and prepare detail drawings for the construction and repair of marine craft and floating structures such as ships, barges, and tugs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: Because Eastern Shipbuilding is continually growing to meet the needs of our customers, the essential duties and responsibilities may be different than described.
Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Use computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software for 3D modeling of ship structure.
Model 3D outfitting structure (i.e., foundations, platforms, ladders, handrails, lifting lugs, supports, liners, etc.)
Model and allocate the equipment in 3D model space based on VFIs and arrangement drawings.
Create and develop production/fabrication drawings of the outfitting structure and nesting of parts (i.e., assembly drawings, stiffener plots and nests).
Responsible for drawing multiple views of the outfitting structure, through assemblies and sub-assemblies, depicting relationship of components and parts.
Identify dimensions, angles, curvatures, and materials in the production drawings.
Review and redline the drawings developed by junior and intermediate drafters.
Mentor and educate the junior designers with engineering practices and standards.
Develop the engineering change documentation (i.e., SWNs, ECRs, ECNs)
May require drafting drawings/sketches in 2D for production.
Preform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Education/Experience: Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology or similar field of study, plus ten years drafting/design experience preferable in the Marine (Outfitting) field desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Skills: Proficiency in FORAN (preferred) or similar software such as AVEVA, NUPAS CADMATIC, ShipConstructor or similar CAD/CAM software required. Strong working experience with AutoCAD (2D) and reading/interpreting structural drawings required. Intermediate level MS Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook experience required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. On-the-job training may be provided in FORAN for those with experience in the other listed software. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, display an attention for detail, and function as a team player.
