Summary
The primary objective of the Fiberglass Technician position is to attend to GRP repairs on the new Leopard catamarans under warranty.
What you will be doing:
Responsible for all fibreglass work on the yachts within agreed timescales
Actively involve self in repairs or retrofit projects on all yachts
Make sure repairs on the hull and deck match existing colours and if in doubt check with the supervisor
Assist with the enforcement of control mechanisms designed to stop waste
Keep the work areas clean, organised, and safe
Report any defects or potential defects you notice whilst carrying out duties using the digital maintenance platform
Coordinate purchasing of fibreglass material inventory with the supervisor; be responsible for having adequate but not excessive inventory on hand
Any other duties as directed by your Line Manager
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and/or qualifications:
Skilled experience in all phases of fibreglass repairs, hull and deck construction
Able to work unsupervised and meet tight deadlines
A knowledge of FRP and GRP repair strengths
A good understanding of fibreglass materials
Ability to work with epoxy resins
Prior repairs with balsa core yachts
Ability to mix and match colours
Knowledge of infusion or vacuum bagging
Practically minded with an ability to solve problems
